Today is Church Holiday.  We all went to first mass this morning & then came home & ate breakfast & dinner.  Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary & Emil were all here, after that Oscar Birkner’s family came to get the wash stand.  Emil was here to see about butchering.  Henry & family went to Waterloo today.  We all went in to Belleville, Aunt Mary took some eggs along in & sold 3 doz. for .35¢.  We bought some toys for the kids Christmas presents.  The Hecker people were all mostly presented in there.  Ike Napiers moved today from the Knapp place to Ed. Meng’s again, Sensel & Pannebecker Blackburn moved him back, he was only up there about 3 months.  Adam Eckert’s birthday is today.

Rosalia & Bertille went out to Uncle Fred’s this morning to pick dewberries.  We picked about 2 gallons.  We canned 2 gls. today and made the rest is jelly.  We took Aunt Mary’s curtains along home and washed them for her.  We had lunch out there this morning.  Kuhus brothers started cutting wheat in our field this afternoon.  Mr. Kuhus is sick in bed with rheumatism.  Yesterday was Ike Napiers birthday, but they didn’t have no dance.  This evening Kuhus brother-in-law was here and looked at our little leghorn chick.  Uncle Fred and Aunt Mary were also here.  Papa went out a little while to help Kuhus shock wheat.  Pete Wachtel and Louis Armstutz, Uncle Fred helped a little while this evening too.  Papa and Uncle Fred went up to the new school this evening to get some benches.  Uncle Fred took 2 of them.  Aunt Mary, Rosalia, Bertille went over to Mrs. Rennecker.  She showed up her garden.  They finished fixing the church steeple today.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here today for dinner and supper.   Uncle Fred and Papa worked on the building of the new school today.  Bertille was uptown this morning.  We started painting our chicken house today.  Mrs. Rheinecker was over and looked at our garden a little while this morning.  Mrs. Frank Birkner was over this afternoon to get some tomato plants that Aunt Mary brought up for her.  Aunt Mary & Rosalia, Bertille was over a little while this evening looked at her quilt that she’s got in the frame for Margaret Dudenhoeffer.  Bertille took 4 doz. eggs to the store, got .20¢ a dozen.  She got some cough syrup.  Bertille has an awful bad cough.  Some of the men were hauling the brick for the new school today from Red Bud.  The brick came from Chester and Murphysboro.  Today is Buddy Napiers birthday.  Dorothy called up here and wanted to know if Aunt Mary was up here.  We told her yes.  She invited them to come down there this evening to the dance.  But we are not invited for that.  Frank Birkner’s wife had lunch with us this afternoon.
