Rosalia went to church this morning.  Papa hauled 2 loads of coal this morning.  They took Delbert Meuth son of Nick Meuth to the hospital one day last week, where he will be operated on appendix.  Mrs. Lorberg is staying with him in the hospital.  Papa hauled 5 loads of coal this afternoon.  Henry called up and wanted to know if Rosalia could take Leona to Waterloo to the doctor this afternoon, so she took her in.  Leona went out to get the mail yesterday afternoon & she ran back to the house & stumbled & cut a big gash in her chin down to the bone.  The doctor put a piece of plaster over it to heal, if it don’t heal shut that way then she will have to get it sewed together.  I seen in the Times, that Clyde Crowe & Walter Schmidt left last Tuesday for Ada Groves, Iowa to visit with Schmidts relatives.  We found 3 dozen eggs today.

Rosalia & Bertille went to church this morning.  Aunt Mary was there too she came up with Oscar’s wife & Frank’s wife, Emma, then after church they & Emma Eckert, Lena Birkner, & Louise Birkner all went down to Christ Buehler’s to help quilt.  We had chicken for dinner today.  Talk is spread that George Lorberg is going to move in Henry Braun’s house in Hecker and he is going to attend to the farm at home, Mrs. Lorberg wanted to move downstairs, so I guess that is why they have to move.  John Reagan is going to move in Mrs. Stauenbiel place in half the house.  Papa furnished plowing this morning.  Eggs are .24¢ at present.  We sold 4 dozen last night.  It is raining this afternoon.  Bertille got the mail this evening.  Papa went up to the bank this afternoon and then he went down to the Sorghum Mill.  Steve Rennecker was fixing the machine they are going to start soon.

It happen to be a nice day after all.  We found 8 eggs today.  Henry came up this morning to get his machine from the garage, but it wasn’t finished yet.  So he came down here for dinner and afterwards went back up again.  Then about four o’clock he left for home, but when he got to the corner his machine stopped and then he got Vic Eichenseer to look after it.  So he got it started again, he left.  When he got between Schneiders and Kammlers it stopped again.  He called up Steve Rheinecker’s to call Papa over to the telephone to bring the Whippet out there.  During that while he came up to Braun’s & had a little talk with him (and) told him to come out & pull it in.  So Papa and Henry went out to where his machine was & got the Whippet passed there.  So Henry could get home.  Papa walked home.  Papa got his hair cut this morning.  Willie Birkner dug a well on his place today.  Louis and Oscar were doing it for him.  Bill Birkner bought Mrs. Lorberg’s place.
