Today all the Ladies of the Parish have to clean the church for confirmation.  Wednesday, the Bishop is coming.  Leona, Robert, Floyd were here this morning.  Leona & Bertille went to church.  Rosalia helped to scrub the church this morning.  Bertille went up to practice singing for Wednesday.  Father Grooten called up this morning and wanted to know if he could use the Whippet.  Papa said “yes.”  So he came down and Johnny was here too.  Papa went along with him to Chester.  He said he wanted to get some rock for the school house.  So Papa went with Father too, so I guess he will see Chester for the first time.  Rosalia & Bertille went up to Eichenseer’s and got Mamie and then we went to Joseph Braun’s & took our pillow slips back for the picnic.  There was a Jefferson Club meeting in Hecker tonight, at Griffin’s Hall.  In Kammler’s Hall the boys were tearing the stage out ready for the dance Saturday night.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here today for dinner and supper.   Uncle Fred and Papa worked on the building of the new school today.  Bertille was uptown this morning.  We started painting our chicken house today.  Mrs. Rheinecker was over and looked at our garden a little while this morning.  Mrs. Frank Birkner was over this afternoon to get some tomato plants that Aunt Mary brought up for her.  Aunt Mary & Rosalia, Bertille was over a little while this evening looked at her quilt that she’s got in the frame for Margaret Dudenhoeffer.  Bertille took 4 doz. eggs to the store, got .20¢ a dozen.  She got some cough syrup.  Bertille has an awful bad cough.  Some of the men were hauling the brick for the new school today from Red Bud.  The brick came from Chester and Murphysboro.  Today is Buddy Napiers birthday.  Dorothy called up here and wanted to know if Aunt Mary was up here.  We told her yes.  She invited them to come down there this evening to the dance.  But we are not invited for that.  Frank Birkner’s wife had lunch with us this afternoon.

Today is Robert’s birthday.  Papa, Rosalia, Bertille went out to Henry’s this evening.  Uncle Fred and Aunt Mary were also there.  It rained heavy while we were out there.  Leona, Bobby, Floyd were here this afternoon.  Papa went to New Athens this morning.  Henry, Rosalia, Bertille all got a letter from the County Clerk of Chester for the remains of Mrs. Bridget Dunn.  Papa sent the papers which Dudenhoefers sent out here for him to fill up back again, but he didn’t fill in the blanks.  We found 28 eggs today.
